The Department of Renewable Energy, located in Haryana, initiated a project for preserving electricity and has given it the term Solar Rooftop Power Plant. Under this project, the Department of Renewal Energy provides solar system plants to various sectors across the state viz residential, social, private, institutional, industrial, and commercial.

To look after the concern of the various sectors, the state of Haryana launched a solar subsidy. 30% of the benchmark cost is allowed to the Haryana sector, 70% is provided to the hilly regions viz Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Uttarakhand, and 90% of the subsidy is made available to the farmers.

Electricity in Haryana is provided by Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN), and for the sake of the solar subsidy scheme, they aim to promote alternate green energy solutions. For instance, if you happen to get an electricity bill between Rs. 2000-3000, the average cost is calculated to be Rs. 7/unit, but if a solar power system is utilized, the cost per unit drops to nearly Rs. 2/unit.
