There have been promising and matured advancements in solar technology. Though China is leading in the Renewable Energy sector, India is not far behind with its target of adding 114 GW Solar Capacity by 2022. The RE sector will see a growth of almost 5-6 times in the next ten years, which might make India a leader in the RE Market as it already ranked at 4th position in renewable power installed capacity in 2019.

Currently, India has an annual solar module manufacturing capacity of approximately 16 GW. Due to technological progress, several foreign investors are interested in investing in the RE sector of India. The scheme of Make in India by the Government of India as well as MNRE has extended support to the solar industry of India. The country is targeting about 450 GW of installed renewable energy capacity by 2030, out of which 60% is expected from solar.

The government has proposed numerous schemes to support solar panel installations throughout the country. The incentive schemes include the control of solar parks, dynamic bidding trajectory, solar rooftop scheme, solar defense scheme, and more. The government is committed to increased use of clean energy sources and is already undertaking various large-scale sustainable power projects.
